Becoming a Referee in 2017

The SSFRA is actively seeking new referees to join us for the 2017 season. To join our Association, we do have a minimum age requirement that all members be 14 years of age at the start of the local football season. We will happily accept referees of all fitness levels, both male and female. To become a referee, you need to follow these steps:

Step 1
Complete your Laws of the Game (LOTG) Certificate. This is a free online course which is provided by the Football Federation of Australia (FFA). Upon the successful completion of this course, print your Certificate (keep it as we will need it for Step 2) and register your interest in Step 2.

Whilst completing the online course, if you have any questions about the laws of the game or the course itself, please feel free to contact our Development Officer via email and we will provide assistance as required.

Note: the online course involves an examination of your understanding of the Laws of the Game. The FFA has set this online course up in a way where users are given only one opportunity to pass the examination. We recommend you allow ample time to complete the course. If you do fail the examination component, please contact our Development Officer via email to discuss alternatives available to you.

Step 2
Attend and successfully complete your Level 4 Practical Certificate. This is an FFA accredited course, run by the SSFRA.
