Expressions of Interest - 2023 Season

The Sutherland Shire Football Referees Association is seeking expressions of interest from any football-loving fan, player, spectator, coach, manager, or adminstrator who is interested in becoming a football referee this coming season..

To become a football referee, the pathway is simple and requires the completion of the online “Laws of the Game (LOTG)“ course, which can be completed in your own time, and attendance at a training day run by the SSFRA. Dates for these training sessions will be advised in later January.

To receive further announcements and updates on the 2023 intake, please complete the expression of interest form below.

Note:

Completing this form does not guarantee your enrolment in any of the courses to be run in 2023 and further registration will be required at a later date.

The minimum age requirement to become a football referee is 14 years of age and you must turn 14 by the beginning of the football season.

For those over the age of 18, a full Working With Children Certificate (WWCC) is required and will need to be presented before you can referee in New South Wales. There is a fee associated with this check (do not confuse this with the V-class volunteer check, this is not relevant to referees as we recieve payment for our services). To apply for a WWC Certificate, visit the Services NSW Website.
