We are the senior refereeing branch in the Sutherland Shire and we cover all full field matches for the Sutherland Shire Football Association. We are currently taking registrations for persons 14 years and older (or who will be  turning 14 soon).

How to become a Referee

STEP 1

Register with the Branch "Sutherland Shire Football Referees Association" on PlayFootball as a New Referee. www.playfootball.com.au/register

STEP 2

Complete the combine Laws of the Game and Junior Football Match Official Course online modules on etrainu - learn.footballaustralia.com.au. If not registered and accepted by a referee branch like SSFRA, you will need a Learning Centre Account)

If you are experiencing issues with signing up to etrainu:

  1. Login with your Play Football login details

  2. You need an active registration to access - if your SSFRA registration is taking time to process (usually due to Football NSW's WWC verification or exemption approval), please register on play football for an additional "Learner NSW" registration - this is free, usually comes through overnight and does not have WWC restrictions.

  3. Try a different browser - etrainu does not seem to log-in as well on Microsoft Edge.

  4. Go to incognito mode/in-private browsing - etrainu is set up with an auto-login process that often logs in  the last person to access, skipping the log-in page.

  5. Try logging is using fa.XXXXXXXX as your user name - where the Xs are replaced by your 8 digit FA number assigned to you as part of the PlayFootball process.

  6. Contact PlayFootball Support.

STEP 3

Register on etrainu for one of the below Junior Football Match Official (JFMO) Courses. Please note that at this time you should complete the JFMO even if you want to skip straight to Senior games - it is still an excellent course and it will not limit your appointments with us should you join as an adult or with prior referee experience and your accreditation has lapsed.
